Police detained 12 migrants in the village of Karnare in Karlovo municipality, Southern Central Bulgaria. They are aged between 16 and 30 and identified themselves as Syrian citizens, police confirmed on August 9.
They were being transported in a four wheel drive driven by a driver who said he was from Azerbaijan.
The migrants were detained during a routine check by a patrol of the Karlovo police station on the Sub-Balkan road.
Work on the case is on-going.
