He expressed his support for their active civic position in defence of democracy
President Rumen Radev met today, December 3, with students at the Presidential institution, expressing his support for their active civic stance in defence of democracy. The young people, members of the Student Association for the Study of International Relations (SAIMO) at the University of National and World Economy, are specialising in International Relations, European Politics and Economics, and Political Science, the presidential press office said.

During the discussion, the students raised a number of questions related to current socio-political developments in the country and emphasised their desire to live in a state governed by the rule of law and the separation of powers.
President Radev underscored the importance of young people playing an active role in strengthening democratic processes in Bulgaria. He highlighted their contribution to upholding the principles of separation of powers and the rule of law. Tackling corruption and oligarchic influence, he noted, is essential for the country’s future and for young people seeking professional and personal fulfilment in the country, the Head of State further said.

Radev encouraged the students to continue developing their knowledge and skills in law, international relations and public administration so they can become a meaningful part of Bulgaria’s future leadership and expert capacity. "Our society needs you," the President told the young people and encouraged them to continue seeking solutions to the key issues that our country is still failing to address.
During their visit, the students toured the building of the Presidential Administration, the Coat of Arms Hall and the library. Dr Maria Yurukova, Adviser on Domestic Policy and Civil Society and head of the institution’s internship programme, briefed them on opportunities for internships and participation in various initiatives. The Advisor for Legal Affairs, Silva Dyukendjieva, introduced the students to the powers of the Head of State.
