A public auction began on 26th of May for the sale of property of the municipality in the town of Sopot, Central Bulgaria.
The list includes over 250 items, including computers, servers and office equipment of the municipality.
Two weeks ago, the municipal office requested a two-week postponement. It expected to receive an interest-free loan from the state, which it was going to use to settle its debts. The debt was incurred as a result of non-payments to a consortium which built the water purification station in the town.
However, so far the promised sum of three and a half million BGN has not been provided.
Residents of Sopot staged a protest and blocked the main road in the town. Their protest is against the procrastination and inefficiency of the state administration.
