Sofia City Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation in connection with the information circulated in the media about explosive devices placed in a number of educational institutions across the country on March 28.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated for a crime against the Republic (terrorism) under Article 108a of the Criminal Code.
The investigation is being conducted by an investigator of the Investigative Department of the State Prosecutor's Office under the guidance and supervision of a supervising prosecutor of the State Prosecutor's Office.
In the course of it, evidence will be gathered as to whether any e-mails containing false alerts about planted bombs in schools were transmitted for the purpose of Article 108a of the Criminal Code.
Sofia city Prosecutor’s office is working in coordination with all relevant agencies. Evidence is being collected under the Criminal Procedure Code to establish the source of the attack signals, the Prosecutor's office said.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
Several schools in Sofia and the University of National and World Economy suspended classes this morning due to a new series of e-mailed bomb threats.
E-mailed bomb threats to schools in Sofia and other cities in the country including Varna, Bourgas and Sliven were received on March 27 and 28.
