The tree is placed in the heart of the city in front of the Cathedral of "St. Alexander Nevsky"
The Christmas tree in the capital was lit up in the evening on December 2.
The Mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, switched on the festive tree’s lights precisely at 7:00 p.m.
The tree stands in the heart of the city, in front of the St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

An hour before the more than 20,000 lights were lit, the area was already filled with music, smiles and festive cheer.

Vasil Terziev, Mayor of Sofia: “The lights matter not only on the Christmas tree, but also in our hearts. I hope everyone watching remembers that — because no matter how many lights we switch on around the city, and no matter how many decorations we put up, what truly matters is keeping light within our own souls.”
