Sofia City Council adopted the budget for the capital city for 2023 after long debates on September 14. It is of the record amount of over 2.5 billion BGN and will be in effect most probably until the spring, when a new one will be adopted.
Investments in it are for over 650 million BGN. The opposition said that the budget is irresponsible, there is no way to support the poor quality repairs, the district mayors are not heard.
GERB reminded that if the budget is not adopted, the salaries of the actors of the municipal theatres will not be raised, the teachers will remain without salaries, there will be no money for 2200 children in newly opened groups in kindergartens.
In the end, 33 voted in favour - GERB, “Patriots for Sofia” and Peñyo Penev from Democratic Bulgaria. 18 were against - from BSP and "Democratic Bulgaria". Three abstained also from "Democratic Bulgaria".
