The reporter of BNT “Panorama”, Katya Todorova and the camera operator Hrisimir Danev travel to California to meet the world renowned author, Isabel Allende. The documentary “Spirits of Freedom” offer viewers to look round the novelist’s house, called “The house of Spirits” after her bestselling novel. In the interviews, she shares personal and touching stories about her life.
The documentary tells the story of the ordinary people from the small American town of Salinas, the birthplace of the world famous writer John Steinbeck. A group of civic-minded volunteers decided to buy and save his house. They thought Steinbeck would like having the house brought back to life and want his good spirit to stay. So they maintain Salina’s famous landmark and keep it up for the future generations.
The film features one of the most famous musicians of California - Dann Zinn.
It also tells the story of the path and freedom of a famous Bulgarian sculptor – Lachezar Boyadzhiev. He left Bulgaria during the times of Communism. Today, his art works are in the best world galleries.
