The first Bulgarian 3D pop opera “The Fisherman and His Soul” will premiere at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia on 19th of May, the director Ana Topalova said at a press conference.
The lead roles will be performed by Mariana Popova, Nencho Balabanov, Vessela Boneva, Amalia and others.
The Bulgarian National Television is the project’s media partner.
“The Fisherman and His Soul”, based on Oscar Wilde’s play of the same name, is the first attempt of a young and ambitious Bulgarian team to present Oscar Wilde’s fairy tale world on stage by using the innovative 3D technologies and the opera genre.
The team consists of over 100 people. Nearly 50 musical themes, 13 opera arias and 4 duet perormances have been created by the composer Minko Lambov. The live show will run for over 2 hours and 15 minutes. 7 actors and an orchestra of 60 musicians will bring the story to life.
Ana Topalova, director and author of the libretto explains that the music is a mix of various genres, from symphonic orchestra to ethno and jazz.
A team of 6 people will be in charge of the scenography, which will include 3D mapping and holographic images.
