A new competition for Bulgarian popular song for a large orchestra, named “The Lyre of Orpheus”, is inviting participants, announced the organisers: the National Music Agency of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Culture. The idea is to encourage Bulgarian songwriters to display their talent in the pop music category and to attract aspiring authors.
The competition is open to all and there is no age limit for the participants. They need to submit the scores on paper and electronically, and a demo recording to the Music Agency by 29th of May.
The entries in the competition will remain anonymous and will be judged on their melody, lyrics and arrangement. The 12 songs shortlisted will be performed at a gala concert, which will take place on 16th and 17th of July in the Open Air Theatre in the South Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.
