The vessel Mentor, which suffered an emergency situation and was drifting in the Black Sea, is now a considerable distance from Varna. During the night, a Turkish vessel joined it and towed it southwards.
The tanker Mentor is no longer near the Bulgarian coast. According to the specialist maritime publication Maritime.bg, another vessel from Turkey joined it late last night and towed it south.
Earlier this morning, November 5, however, the vessel was still drifting in Bulgarian territorial waters, near Cape Kaliakra.
The ship was supposed to be towed to the port of Constanța, but the towline snapped. As a result, the vessel began drifting freely at sea.
Preliminary information indicates that the ship is carrying nearly 11,000 tonnes of sunflower oil.
The Ministry of Transport said it was monitoring the situation and coordinating with all relevant institutions.
The latest information indicates that the vessel is being towed southwards.
