Members of the team that made the film “The Way to Costa del Maresme” – the Bulgarian proposal for Oscar Award were guests in the studio of the BNT programme “The Day Begins with Culture” on 28th of November. The gala premiere of the film was on 27th of November. “The Way to Costa del Maresme” focuses on the fate of Jewish people in Bulgaria during the Second World War. It will be on release in cinemas in Bulgaria from 5th of December.

The guests in the BNT studio were the actress Anzhela Nedyalkova, the producer Nesim Levi and the actor Moni Moshonov.

Nesim Levi said that at the time he began making the film, 6 years ago, he knew it had to be a co-production between Bulgaria and Israel. The storyline of the film is about the love between two boys and a girl and how it develops.

Anzhela Nedyalkova noted that the focus of the film was not on the war. It is more like a background of the story. The director shows the normal human relations and how they survive at the time of war.

Moni Moshonov said that in the film he played the father of the main character. He noted that the strange and the beautiful thing about this film was that in some way the actor told the real life story of his own parents. He went on by saying that he was brought up in Israel and his parents were from the South-Eastern Bulgarian town of Sliven. They arrived in Israel in 1948. Moshanov added that there were scenes in the film, which coincided with the life story of his Mother. She was the one to arrange the way through which the family got in Israel. She told the actor about a specific moment when she said to his father that she would immigrate to Palestine.

The script is written by Yurii Dachev, Ivan Nichev and Tanya Granitova. The film is directed by Ivan Nichev. Cast: Kristiyan Makarov, Anzhela Nedyalkova, Stefan Popov, Tatyana Lolova, Vassil Mihailov, Moni Moshonov, Dimitar Rachkov, Georgi Mamalev.
