A powerful downpour turned streets in Veliko Tarnovo into fast-flowing streams after more than 20 litres of rain per square metre fell over the city.
Floodwaters once again inundated a section of the Southern Road Junction, through which the international Ruse–Svilengrad route passes.
Specialised equipment was immediately deployed to drain the flooded roadway. Traffic in the area has since returned to normal.
