Around 3:00 p.m.on Deember 3, a group of students crossed the railway line near a vocational high school in Vratsa.

Two tenth-graders attempted to cross at the last moment, but one was hit by the locomotive and died on the spot.

Students from the school frequently use the railway line as a shortcut, even though a level crossing is located just a few metres away.
