On 16th of February, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pavlo Klimkin, arrived on an official visit in Sofia, at a time of hopes and doubts about the stability of the peace agreement between the Ukrainian army and the separatists in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
FM Klimkin met with his Bulgarian counterpart, Daniel Mitov. During his visit, Klimkin is to meet with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, Boyko Borissov and the Chairperson of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva.
The developments in Ukraine and the situation of the ethnic Bulgarians were among the topics discussed by the two diplomats. FM Daniel Mitov said that in the event of escalation of the fighting in Ukraine, Bulgaria was ready to do everything to protect the life of the ethnic Bulgarians in the regions affected by the conflict.
FM Pavlo Klimkin assured that Ukraine fully observed the ceasefire agreement, but received shelling attacks in the last 24 hours.
