The water in the villages of Nadezhden and Ostar Kamak can only be used for domestic and hygienic purposes
Uranium concentrations exceeding the permitted limit have been detected in the water supply of Harmanli and the villages of Nadezhden and Ostar Kamak. Laboratory tests revealed a level of 31.2 μg/l, above the maximum allowed 30 μg/l, the Municipality reported.
As a result, the Haskovo Regional Health Inspectorate has declared the water from the network unsuitable for drinking and food preparation. It may only be used for domestic and hygienic purposes.
A system has been set up to provide safe drinking and cooking water. Bottled water will be supplied for children’s nurseries for drinking and meal preparation.
For food preparation at the Social Patronage and day centres, safe water will be delivered. A stationary water tank will also be installed at the Harmanli Water Utility building.
