'We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria' (WCC–DB) will propose a one-off adjustment of incomes to reflect the inflation accumulated in 2025.
WCC leader Asen Vassilev reminded that under the extended budget proposed by the government, the minimum wage is set to rise to €620 from 1 January 2026, and the government has also raised the poverty line, which determines social payments.
Speaking on the proposal, Vassilev said:
“We propose a one-off indexation for everyone not on the minimum wage, equal to the annual inflation accumulated by 31 December. This is entirely feasible within the budget, as revenues grow with both economic growth and inflation, so there will be no difficulty covering these expenses.”
He noted that the final inflation data from the National Statistical Institute for 2025 are yet to be published, but current estimates put it at around 5%.
Martin Dimitrov of 'Yes, Bulgaria' added:
“This approach is far preferable because it addresses a problem seen in previous budgets, which included €20 billion in loans and huge deficits, pushing Bulgaria towards Romanian and Greek-style scenarios. Here, there are no loans or uncontrolled deficits, and incomes are compensated for inflation, allowing elections to be conducted in a stable environment.”
