This November, the average monthly temperature is expected to be around or below the seasonal norm. The average for northern Bulgaria and the Upper Thracian Plain is between 5 and 8 degrees, for the high plains between 3 and 6 degrees, along the Black Sea coast and in the Struma River valley between 8 and 10 degrees, and in mountainous areas between minus 5 and 3 degrees.
Monthly precipitation is expected to be around or above the norm, which is between 40 and 70 litres per square metre across most of the country, and between 60 and 90 litres per square metre in the southern and mountainous regions.
The first 10 days of November will be cold and wet, while temperatures in the final 10 days will be close to seasonal norms
During the first 10 days of November, the weather will be relatively cold. Skies will be predominantly cloudy, with rainfall. At the very beginning of the month, rain in the high plains and lower mountainous areas of western Bulgaria will be mixed with snow or turn to snow.

During most of the second 10-day period, temperatures are also expected to remain below average. Until the middle of the period, predominantly cloudy weather with precipitation, mainly rain, is expected to continue. In the second half of the period, the likelihood of precipitation will decrease. Predominantly cloudy and foggy conditions are expected in lowland areas and valleys, while cloud cover will break up and decrease in the mountains and mountainous regions. Temperatures are also expected to rise somewhat.
During the final 10 days of the month, the likelihood of precipitation will be low, and temperatures will be close to the climatic norms. Cloudy and foggy conditions will again prevail during the morning hours in the country’s lowland areas, with some sunshine around and after midday. The weather in the mountains will be predominantly sunny.
November is a transitional month between autumn and winter. The ground cools considerably overnight, and the number of cloudy and foggy days increases. Calm autumn days become less frequent.
Atmospheric conditions become more dynamic in November. Arctic air more frequently reaches the Balkan Peninsula, and snowfall is not uncommon. At the same time, warm air incursions from the Mediterranean have brought temperatures of up to 27–30 degrees. Periods of sunny and warm weather in November are known in Bulgarian as “Indian summer”.
