A total of 266 people have been detained in an operation by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) against illegal migration ordered by the ministry's chief secretary. Of those arrested, 216 were illegal aliens, 24 were facilitating illegal migration and 26 for other offences. During the police operation on September 28, 15 persons declared wanted by the state were identified and various narcotics were seized. A total of 65 pre-trial proceedings were initiated.
The officers of the Directorate General “National Police”, the Sofia Directorate of the MoI and regional directorates of the MoI, the Border Police, the Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and the Migration Directorate have checked 1,603 addresses, 24,786 vehicles and 36,448 people.
