According to Stanford's ranking for overall career development of scientists, 78 Bulgarian researchers are among the top two percent of the best in the world. 16 of them are members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and another 33 are scientists from the Academy.
The rankings are compiled annually based on an analysis of the science metrics of some 8,400,000 scientists from 176 subfields of science.
A separate ranking is produced for scientific developments in the previous year. It includes a total of 56 Bulgarian scientists. It also includes 7 BAS scientists who are not included in the overall development ranking.
