Police in the coastal city of Bourgas on September 27 detained a group of illegal migrants after a chase. The migrants had tried to hide near Lake Vaya.
A total of 10 illegal migrants and the driver of the vehicle were detained. They were travelling in a passenger car which failed to stop on police orders and a chase and roadblock ensued.
The vehicle carrying the illegal migrants did not stop at the checkpoint in the “Poda” area. They were chased down by the police and the car was stopped at the entrance to the centre of Bourgas.
Five of the migrants were detained on the spot, while the other 5 escaped and hid near the Vaya lake.
A raid was launched, which involved tracking dogs. After about an hour of searching, the other five were detained.
They identify themselves as Syrians. The driver is also held.
