The certification of the voting machines for the 27 October early parliamentary elections has been completed.
The final step was the trusted software build of the machines and hashcode generation. It will be displayed on the control slip when the machines are started on election day and printed at the end of each ballot by the machines. It is the duty of the polling station committees to put it in a visible place in the premises. The process was carried out in a controlled-access room at the Ministry of e-Governance, which does not have internet, by Central Election Commission (CEC) officials. It was open to the public and was broadcast on a screen in the ministry. For the first time, there was also audio of the proceedings. Representatives of political parties and NGOs were also present in the hall.
"We asked CEC to review the so-called parameterisation software. This software is the software with which each machine is parameterised for the designated polling station. All the checks that have been carried out by the experts show that there are no vulnerabilities in this software," explained caretaker minister of e-governance, Valentin Mundrov.
