Statements in the Council of Ministers after the extraordinary meeting, held today, September 29, which was expected to adopt the territorial plans for a just transition of coal regions in the country.
Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov addressed the protesting energy workers and miners:
"What we are doing is the best possible for them and for the country as a whole. Many of their demands today are based on false or distorted information. The deadline to send the package to the EC is tomorrow, 30 September. No further delay can be made, because we risk losing billions of leva - BGN 3.5 billion. Secondly, the documents we are sending clearly state that the plants will operate until 2038. Thirdly, there are no dates for the closure of specific coal-fired plants."
