Energy Regulator sets December natural gas price at 63.01 Leva per MWh without fees and charges
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) on December 1 approved a natural gas price of 63.01 leva per megawatt-hour (MWh) for December, excluding taxes and fees.
At this price, public supplier “Bulgargaz” EAD will sell natural gas to end suppliers and to entities licensed for the production and transmission of heat.
The regulator noted that the December price is 4.3% lower than in November.
The decrease is attributed to the continued fall in the TTF index on international gas markets, as well as the partial cancellation of previously requested volumes by some customers. A comparison with previous years shows that the current price is 16.3% lower than in December 2024 and 34% lower than in December 2023.
The price was approved following an analysis of the latest data submitted by “Bulgargaz” EAD. The pricing mix includes all contracted volumes of Azerbaijani natural gas supplied via the Bulgaria–Greece interconnector (IGB) under the long-term agreement with Azerbaijan. These volumes cover a significant portion of consumption and play an important role in securing favourable gas prices.
“Bulgargaz” has also secured liquefied natural gas (LNG) for December through contracts with traders, following a tender with minimum delivery price requirements and and a proposed payment method. The pricing mix for the month also includes gas from the Chiren Underground Gas Storage facility.
“Gas deliveries have been secured for the entire winter season, and if there is no significant increase in regional demand, prices may remain near current levels, ensuring price stability for Bulgarian consumers,” the EWRC said.
