Four people get chance to live after a donor situation in Sofia

Four people were given a chance for life after a donor situation implemented by a team from Pirogov Hospital, the Ministry of Health said on August 1. The donor was a 32-year-old man who fell into brain death. Despite the difficult moment, the relatives took the noble decision to donate his organs.

A heart transplant was performed by a medical team of the Prof. Dr. Alexander Chirkov Hospital. A team of the Military Medical Academy performed a liver transplant, and two kidney transplants were done by the medical specialists at Lozenets Hospital.

This is the third donor situation realized within a month and 16 since the beginning of the year.

The Ministry of Health and the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision" offer condolences to the donor's relatives and thank them for their humane gesture. They also express their gratitude to the teams of the medical institutions involved in the donation and transplantation process.
