MPs are expected to vote on the motion of no confidence on December 11. The procedure was due to begin at 13:30, but the “There Is Such a People” party requested a 30-minute break before the vote could start. The motion was submitted by We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria WCC-DB and supported by Alliance for Rights and Freedoms and MECH.
Protest against the government
This is the sixth vote of no confidence against the Zhelyazkov cabinet, brought over what the opposition describes as the government’s failure in economic policy.
Yesterday, the debate lasted around five hours. The sharp political exchanges in the chamber focused both on the drafting of the budget and on the management of the security services. “Vazrazhdane” and “Velichie” also announced they would back the motion, though each for their own reasons.
