Bulgarian citizens should avoid travelling to and through municipalities in southern Austria where a state of emergency was declared on August 7 due to the torrential rains, the Foreign Ministry recommends.
A state of emergency has been declared in the following 12 municipalities in southern Austria: Paldau, Bad Griechenberg, Gnas, Straden, Mureck, Leibnitz, Heimschuh, Kitzeck, Gamlitz, St. John, St. Veit and Neutschach.
Bulgarian citizens in Austria are advised to avoid travel to and through the affected areas at all costs. if motorists get stuck on motorways, they should stay there and not attempt to use bypassing secondary roads, the Foreign Ministry advises.
Some 2,500 firefighters and army units have been mobilised. Red Cross field kitchens have been organised, the ministry informed.
