With 124 votes in favour and 0 against, the Parliament on October 13 adopted a declaration in support of Israel.
The declaration condemns the terror of Hamas and supports Operation Iron Sword.
The text was adopted with the votes of the GERB-UDF, “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and “There is Such a People” party.
"Operation Iron Swords represents an inevitable and necessary reciprocal response, an act to defend the lives and dignity of Israelis and the right to existence of the State of Israel itself. At the same time, it is recognised that there are over two million Palestinians living in Gaza who are also hostages of Hamas despotism and are being used as human shields," said Ekaterina Zaharieva of GERB-UDF.
"The international situation at the moment is extremely exacerbated and diplomacy and foreign policy do not tolerate such shenanigans. Bulgaria is not a rubber stamp with which to stamp declarations written somewhere else", said Kostadin Kostadinov of "Vazrazhdane".
