A protest by public transport workers caused disruptions in the traffic in Sofia on January 18. The protest was organised by the federation of transport trade unions of CITUB and was held in the capital’s residential district of "Druzhba" at the last stop of trolley line 4, and buses lines 88, 204, 304, 384.

The protest started at 8.00 am. Participants at 8:30 stopped the protest and released the public transport in "Druzhba" 2 to go to a meeting with the mayor. However, they remain on strike alert. Whether there will be new demonstrations or not depends on the outcome of their talks with Mayor Vasil Terziev.

The public transport workers are demanding a 30% wage increase. The trade union reminds that the promised 37 million BGN for pay rise in the sector have not been provided.
