Because of several wild fires that broke out in the afternoon on July 26, the district governor of Haskovo, Krasimir Angelov, declared state of emergency. It applies to all municipalities in the district.
The most serious wild fires are in Lyubimets municipality. A forest is burning in the village of Dabovets, where several teams are battling the fire. Fires are also burning in the villages of Georgi Dobrevo and Oryahovo.
At 13.00 a truck loaded with straw burned down near Haskovo (Southern Bulgaria). The vehicle was engulfed in flames while travelling towards the village of Benkovski in Kardzhali district. The driver managed to pull off the road and stopped.
Temperatures in the region today exceeded 40 degrees per Celsius, it became windy in the afternoon and this makes the work of firefighters difficult.
Today is the last working day of the district governor, Krassimir Angelov. Tomorrow he has to hand over the post to Ginka Raicheva, whom the cabinet appointed today.
