Unprecedented cruelty and violence against an 18-year-old girl from Stara Zagora.
The girl was attacked and cut with a carpet knife by her boyfriend at the end of June. Her arms, legs and chest were slashed and doctors performed more than 400 stitches on the cuts.
The girl's nose was broken, and the perpetrator also shaved off all her hair with a razor. He was wearing a mask and gloves at the time of the attack. However, the victim recognized him by his smile and clothes.
He was initially detained for 72 hours but was later released on bail by the court. The girl is in extremely serious condition. Her relatives and friends are demanding that the perpetrator be punished with the full severity of the law.
And they are puzzled why, after the prosecutor's office requested "detention in custody" and the Stara Zagora District Court granted the request, the District Court decided that the measure should be revoked because the girl's injuries did not threaten her life and the bodily harm was classified as minor. The outcome of the case is pending.
