A new 6.5 kilometre section of Europe Motorway, from Dragoman to the border crossing "Kalotina" on the border with Serbia,.was opened on April 13.
The entire section is expected to be ready by the end of May. The construction of the entire motorway will be completed by the end of next year,. It is divided into three sections, of which the one from Slivnitsa to Dragoman is fully ready.
The caretaker minister of regional development and public works, Ivan Shishkov, said that this will ease traffic. Caretaker Prime Minister Gulub Donev also attended the opening.
"This section is so important because it connects Bulgaria with Europe. It is also important because in this particular stretch from Kalotina checkpoint to Dragoman, those of you who have travelled on it know in what condition it was. It used to be a narrow road and very often there were accidents," said caretaker Prime Minister Donev.
