Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mariya Gabriel, on January 17 met with US Assistant Secretary of State, James O'Brien, at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The focus of the meeting was the strategic dialogue between Bulgaria and the US and common approaches to global and regional issues.
"Support, coordination and common response to challenges are the key words. I am glad that as allies and partners we are responding together to regional and global challenges", said Mariya Gabriel.
They also discussed the topics of Bulgaria's strategic position in NATO regarding security in the Black Sea region and the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Mariya Gabriel also emphasised the Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and the US on countering foreign manipulation of information and its key importance in an environment of increasing hybrid attacks and disinformation.
"I thank US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien for his support and willingness to provide common responses to today's challenges," Mariya Gabriel further commented.
