Bulgarian citizens should come out to vote, including the Bulgarians living abroad, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev called from Chicago, the government press office said on its Facebook page on September 24.
This is the way to form a regular government and to have larger representation in the newly elected Parliament, Glavchev added. He is Chicago, where he met with representatives of the Bulgarian community. Glavchev travelled to the United States on Saturday for the Summit of the Future, which took place in New York on September 22 and 23.
Dimitar Glavchev also drew attention to the proposals that the caretaker cabinet made to further boost voters' confidence in the machine voting.
He commented that talks continue on another important topic for our country - visa-free travel. The problem at the moment remains the high number of visa refusals, the main reason being wrongly filled in documents. In this regard, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting an awareness-raising campaign. According to Dimitar Glavchev, this will lead to a reduction in the refusal rate and hence to opportunities for implementing this visa-free travel agreement.
During his meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian community in Chicago, Glavchev emphasized the care for the development of Bulgarian communities abroad as an important priority of the state policy.
The Prime Minister appreciated the activity of Bulgarian organizations, Bulgarian schools and the numerous initiatives of the Bulgarian community in Chicago, which contribute to the promotion of the identity and diversity of Bulgarian culture and art. Every Bulgarian, wherever he is, is important to us, Dimitar Glavchev said.
