Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint seized 7.6 kg of ecstasy during an inspection of a lorry.
On 2 April, a tractor-trailer with Turkish registration, travelling from Germany to Turkey, via Bulgaria, arrived at the checkpoint.
Using the "risk analysis" method, customs officers selected the vehicle for a thorough inspection, during which 6 packages of blue pills were found in the driver's cabin.
The pills tested positive for ecstasy in a field drug test. The total amount of the detected narcotic substance was 7,620 kg, worth 190,500 BGN according to the prices used in judicial proceedings.
The driver of the vehicle was detained. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.
