caretaker discusses actions renegotiation recovery plan leadership trade unions

The caretaker government continues to have an active dialogue with Brussels in relation to the decision of the National Assembly to renegotiate the energy chapter of Bulgaria’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, caretaker Prime Minister, Galab Donev, said during a meeting at the Council of Ministers with the leaderships of CITUB and "Podkrepa" trade unions, on April 4. Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister, Atanas Pekanov, Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov and his two deputies, Iva Petrova and Elenko Bozhkov, also participated in the talks.

At the meeting, caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev noted that caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Pekanov and Energy Minister are in constant contact with the European Commission and despite the complexity of the negotiations, the two are making serious and consistent efforts to present to Brussels all the arguments of the country on this issue.

The caretaker Prime Minister pointed out that in the next three weeks the Commission expects the Bulgarian government to present specific proposals and steps to increase green energy in the country’s energy mix. He pointed out that a balance is being sought in which Bulgaria moves towards a cleaner environment, while preserving jobs and the quality of life of people in coal regions, as well as preserving Bulgaria's position on the energy map in Europe.

Caretaker Energy Minister, Rosen Hristov, briefed the trade union representatives on the talks he had in Brussels last week. In his words, our European partners positively accepted the concept of integrating the projects under the RRP, the new RepowerEU programme and the territorial plans into a common goal for a green transition.

Caretaker Energy Minister assured that the work on the specific steps that Bulgaria should present to Brussels, as soon as possible, is ongoing.

The trade unions have expressed support for the position of the caretaker cabinet in the negotiations with the Commission and have expressed their readiness to continue their constructive cooperation with the government on this important issue for this country, the government press office said.
