The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) for cars in Sofia stops operating from today, March 1, 2024.
It was introduced on December 1 last year in the so-called "small ring", which covers the area between "Vasil Levski" Blvd, "Patriarch Evtimiy" Blvd, "Gen. Skobelev” Blvd., "Opalchenska" street and "Slivnitsa" Blvd.

The ordinance was adopted by the Sofia City Council at the end of 2022 in compliance with a decision of the Sofia City Court.
The most polluting cars of the first eco-group were included in the restriction. The measure aimed at reducing pollution levels in the centre of Sofia.
