Results of the recent public opinion poll by Gallup international show that so far the main ruling party GERB’s candidate for President Tsetska Tsacheva leads by about 4% before the Bulgarian Socialist Party-backed candidate, general Roumen Radev. On the basis of the declared readiness to go to the polls, voter turnout can be expected at some 55%.

If there is a second-round vote, which is expected according to the data, the ratio would be 53% to 47% in favor of General Radev.

According to the results of Gallup’s survey, at the first round of the elections Tsetska Tsacheva would receive 27.2% of the votes, while Roumen Radev would receive 23.1%, followed by Krasimir Karakachanov, the candidate of the United Patriots joint ticket with 11.5% and businessman Vesselin Mareshki with 7.65, former Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski, standing as an independent, with 7.3%, the candidate of the Reformist Bloc Traicho Traikov with 5.1%, ABV’s Ivailo Kalfin with 4.9% and the candidate of Movement 21-National Movement for Stability and Progress joint ticket, Tatyana Doncheva with 2.7%.

The situation is very dynamic and changes are possible, Gallup says.

Most likely the elections will be decided in the second round, according to the polling agency. Most likely it will be Tsacheva and Radev. From today's perspective the relationship between them is 53% against 47 in favor of Radev.

At this point, Radev leads in the run-off on 53%, compared to 47% for Tsacheva. If Tsacheva and Karakachanov reach the second round, Karakachanov is likely to win on 51%, while Tsacheva would get 49%. This, however, are just hypothetical options which cannot possibly take account of the psychological situation after the first round and the influence of the None Of The Above option on the ballot paper, which will be available in the second round as well, Gallup notes.

A total of 45% of the eligible voters have declared that they will participate in the national referendum.

82% of those expected to vote in the referendum declared that they would answer "yes" to the first question "Do you support to elect the MPs through a majority system with absolute majority in two rounds?", 15% would answer "no".

58% would answer "yes” to the second question "Do you support the introduction of compulsory voting at elections and referendums?" and 37% would answer "no".

The last question, "Do you support the idea for the annual state subsidy allocated for financing of the political parties and coalitions to be BGN 1 for each real vote received at the last general elections?", would receive 87% “yes” answers and 11% “no” answers.

The survey was conducted in the period between 24th -31st of October. 820 people were interviewed. The survey was commissioned, conducted and funded by Gallup international Balkan.
