The tourism industry predicts a strong winter season, which will be linked not only with skiing holidays and snow, but also with spa and wellness holidays, visits to family and friends, the upcoming holidays, cultural and business tourism. Bulgaria also hosts many competitions, including the World Cup in skiing, which will attract additional tourists, said Rumen Draganov, the director of the Institute for Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism.
This winter, the business predicts that Bulgarians will be having holidays in the mountains, cities and spending time with relatives in the country, Draganov said.
He said that anticipations are that this winter season there will be an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria compared to 2019, and they will exceed 1.7 million. Around 3.5 million Bulgarians will travel to the country in this period.
Draganov commented that the two military conflicts have no effect on the macro frame of tourism, because for 2024 the expectations are to exceed the volumes of 2019 by about 5 percent.
