A man was killed and his wife is in serious condition after a tree fell on their car on the Blvd. "Ilianzi" in Sofia during strong wind on November 18.
The incident happened at around 4 pm. A poplar tree from a private property was completely uprooted by the wind and fell onto the roadway and the car in which the two were travelling. Mayor Vasil Terziev and teams from the Sofia Municipality's Emergency Aid and Prevention Directorate arrived at the scene. Director Krassimir Dimitrov urged citizens to secure their balconies and construction companies to secure the fences of their sites.
During the day, 20 reports for fallen trees were received at the emergency number 112.
The municipality also warns of dangerous weather on Vitosha mountain, where there is snow.
