The Northern Lights were visible from the North Sea to the Alps, as well as over Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany and Croatia.

The reason for this rare phenomenon for these latitudes is increased solar activity. It originates from the interaction of solar wind particles emitted by the sun. Because of powerful solar storm every 11-year cycle, our star ejects plasma towards Earth and this is the cause of this dazzling display of lights in the night sky.
