Code red for hazardous weather with warnings for heavy snowfall and stormy winds has been declared for tomorrow, November 26, for four districts in north-eastern Bulgaria, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said. The weather alert red code is in force for the districts of Dobrich, Razgrad, Shumen and Silistra.

"The weather situation in the next 12 hours will seriously complicate, especially in northern Bulgaria. Until tomorrow morning, the code red warnings are in force in four districts of north-eastern Bulgaria, it will also be very windy," Krasimir Stoev from the met office told BNT on November 25.

Snowfall will continue and the amounts will be significant. There will be blizzards and snow drifts. The snow cover in the four districts will be between 10 and 30 centimetres. Winds will be strong and gusty, with speeds up to 100 kilometres per hour.

Code orange alert has been issued for eight districts - Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Rousse, Sliven, Targovishte, Shumen and Yambol. Significant rainfall is expected there, which will turn to snow and sleet, as well as stormy winds with gusts up to 90-100 kilometers per hour.

Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather has been declared for the districts of Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Montana, Pernik, Pleven, as well as in some municipalities of Sofia region. Strong west-northwest winds will blow in these areas.
